Afterparty. Talaba with icepick. [Nov. 4, 2011]
My twin brother was the one who opened the talaba. It’s another variety of the common oyster found here in the Philippines.
It was my twin’s first time to do so and he was very good at it. Some of his friends opened the talaba by piercing on it randomly by the icepick. But my twin had a technique, he pressed the talaba with his fingers, looked for a ‘bubbling’ hole (which meant there was a cavity on the shell), and slides the icepick into the hole. And…the shell opened effortlessly. His friends were like, “Wah! You cheated! We didn’t know that!”
