It’s a Holiday at this Side of the Planet
It’s a holiday at this side of the planet. What’s the best thing to do today? Well, my friend and I are going to the office and work overtime. Yes, work overtime. Why? Aside from the fact that we will receive a double-pay, we just want to be more productive with our time because we usually do nothing special during the holidays.

So I’m going to continue my work with the Penthouse interior design. The image above is the second floor lounge of the 3-floor unit. The furniture pieces are from B&B Italia and Minotti. I have to start designing the ceiling and complete my veneer swatches.
I’ll be meeting with some engineers and designers for the project this month. I’m a little anxious about it but I believe I can pull it together. And I’ve heard I’m scheduled to go to the site any time soon! Wish me luck, guys!

Here’s the latest revision of the Penthouse I’m working on. I’ve decided to place wood veneer on the walls and granite finish on the lower garden.
The infinity pool has a darker granite finish, but I’m planning to extend the pool unit the lower garden and border it with glass. In that way, the “infinity” would be more infinite, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I’ve selected some furniture from the sky lounge (the area with a towering glass structure) and waiting for the furniture supplier to confirm some of the pieces.

This week I started doing the interiors of the Penthouse. I had a hard time deciding what veneer or swatches to use. But I got a little help from a friend and we came up with a good presentation. Our boss loved what we did.
Now, I’m thinking of a lot of things to do with the penthouse’s toilet and bath. Like maybe use colorful or playful swatches and finishes. Really excited about this one!
I’ll update you guys about the project’s progress. I’ll be going to the site soon and, hopefully, meet the client! Wish me luck!

This is the Penthouse I’m working on. I can’t show you guys the whole thing because this is office work. I can only provide this view of the pool and the sky lounge (the right side with all the glass). As you can see, this is just a raw SketchUp presentation. Took me two days to model this one. Will re-model soon.

At last!
It has been a busy week for me. I had been assigned to 3 projects already at the architecture firm. I know you guys are really curious about projects. Maybe I can post some pics and SketchUp exports on here. I’m assigned to do a Senator’s house, a condominium at Greenbelt and a penthouse (somewhere in China, I think).
For the Senator’s house, I do it with my team. We’re more focused on the interior design since the architectural part has been finalized. This project here…IT’S REALLY HUGE!!! I don’t know when I can visit the site, hopefully next month.
The project at Greenbelt, I’m doing it with a friend on Saturday (March 31st). We’re gonna measure the unit and, most probably, do the interiors as well.
For the penthouse, I’m doing it (for now) by myself. Just a 3-floor unit. Yes, a 3-floor unit with a pool and sky lounge.
Wow, talk about workaholic eh?

Got hired at a Architecture firm in Makati!
I got hired at a Architecture firm in Makati! It’s just a 5-minute walk from where I’m staying. The office is really great, packed with computers and friendly employees: architects, interior designers, renderers and apprentices.
I got in last February 28, and stated working the following day. I’m still kindda shy but I made a few friends already.
I’m now assigned in the interior design of a Philippine senator’s 3-storey mansion. Pretty cool, huh?

Project at Pampanga started construction last two weeks ago. I just got the pictures thru Email. In the photo, you can see the installment of scaffolding and braces for the columns.

Done with the farm house design, next?
I’m now done with the design for the farm house. The total area of the design is 1160 sq.m. The house features 4 bedrooms, a porch, a two-car garage, a big living room adjacent to the dining area, a kitchen and other utility and storage rooms plus a “uncommon area” for a farm house [can’t tell you guys what it is, sorry!]. I’m not allowed to post the floor plan or the elevations on here.
The construction would probably start in the coming months, I’ll keep you guys posted. If the client approves everything, then detailing and other architectural and engineering stuff will commence immediately. I’m hands-off with the engineering/structural part though, sticking to the architectural detailing.
In the mean time, I have to renew my passport. Gotta fly back to Singapore probably this month or on March. Opportunities knockin’ on my door!

Designing the farm house, what do you guys think?
So yeah, I’m still awake. Busy designing the farm house. I got message from the client telling me everything he wants me to consider for the house, which is actually a good thing. He wants a “large front” which actually mean a wide patio/porch and vestibule in the entrance, 3 to 4 bedrooms with toilets each, a grand living room, a kitchen with dining and a two car garage. And I just knew that the lot is BIG. [Ah, architecture, I’m beginning to appreciate you more!]
I was thinking instead of paying me money, and since the client is related to me by blood [lucky me!], maybe he could just buy me air-tickets to Manila and a concert pass to the Evanescence concert this February!!! Well, yeah, I’ve calculated: the air-ticket + the concert pass is lower than my actual fees! Hmm…maybe I should also ask for pocket money, Manila is such a big city. What do you guys think?
Gotta focus and finish everything before the deadline! And I thought my 2012 will be boring…guess I was wrong! I’m so happy for this opportunity. Keep ‘em coming! :-)

Glass with Structural Detail. First upload. The drawn structural detail is also from the ongoing project somewhere in Luzon. My brother was busy finishing it in AutoCAD when I asked him if I could borrow it for awhile. He was happy to give it me and suggested I could just take any detail from his folder.
