DAVE BAUTISTA. You guys must’ve noticed that I write about various subjects here in my Tumblr. Well, this post here is just a simple captioned photo-post of my all time WWE favorite, Dave Bautista a.k.a Batista.
I’m really not a WWE fanatic but I believe it is nice to have some shows like WWE, for some entertainment.
I remember those times when I would only watch WWE if Batista was on screen. I really wasn’t impressed with the other wrestlers that time. And, oh, who would not get all EXCITED when the wrestler was going to execute the BATISTA BOMB? But those were the days… I got busy with college life and was not able to watch any TV show by then. I was just surprised when I heard he resigned from WWE.
I bought his biography “BATISTA UNLEASHED” when I found a copy in another city a year ago. I was happy to finally have my hands on his book. I read it, really great. To be honest, it’s the first biography I ever read.
Lately, I’ve been hearing that he is considering to return to WWE. That’s great news, if you ask me. I personally want to see more of him. I just hope WWE would manage him properly this time (especially with the new characters in the show).
As some of us are aware of, he is currently out making movies. “House of the Rising Sun” is now available and is only distributed in DVD. Dave will star in a RZA film “The Man with the Iron Fists”. He will also star in a Scorpion King movie-franchise “Book of the Dead”. The both titles will be released probably late this year (2011), so you guys better watch out!

This is the costume I wore for first ever ARFIEN COSPLAY on March 12. The head mask is inspired from a Tumblr post (a blogger) and the traditional Afghanistan burqa. I came to the said event as a dissident. I wasn’t able to take a lot of pictures from the event because I can’t see properly through my costume. And I can’t feel my camera because of my gloves. And I have to go home early as possible.

The story behind my costume:

I was lucky enough to have purchased a black coat four days before the event. During that day, my friend Rayj and I just finished interviewing a “significant person” for our architecture thesis proposals. And also on the same day, we were able to climb the Pope John Paul II Tower, the newly constructed tower donated by the “significant person” to the Diocese of Bacolod.

After purchasing the black coat, I went to school to check improvements on the publication’s compilation. Another friend of mine, April was there and, of course, I asked her opinion about the black coat and my soon-to-be costume. Then I asked her help to shop with me; we were searching for black gloves in the stores at Central Market. We went to every possible place until we finally decided to purchase the pair of black gloves in a store we first stopped in. I’m very thankful to my two friends!

Then I received a text message from a seamstress, it was about my head mask. So, I went home immediately. Then went to the seamstress to have my head “measured”. She suggested the materials to be used (cream-colored silk and some kind of lace). She said that the hat will be ready by Thursday.

Now, on the day of the Cosplay. I was planning to purchase a white shirt. But I don’t have the time. I was having last-minute problems with my costume especially the head mask. After checking all the probable inner shirts that I could wear from my wardrobe, I spotted a polo. The inner polo I used was a gift from my uncle to my twin. It was too big (an XL) for him so he didn’t see any reason to use it. I thought so as well, not until the Cosplay. I sewn it to my own size (an M). Yeah, if not for the Cosplay I wouldn’t know that I have excellent sewing skills. The jeans are from JAG and the shoes from GIBI (both are properties of my twin).

Anyway, the ARFIEN COSPLAY was fascinating. There were Anbus, Lolitas, movie characters and traditional costumes. Almost everyone who participated had exciting costumes. I had fun and learned a lot especially in costume-making. I’m looking forward for another Cosplay next year!
